When did Waterpark Simulator release?

It entered Steam Early Access on August 22, 2025 and launched version 1.0 on July 31, 2026, simultaneously with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

How much does it cost? $12.99 on Steam (per the official Steam store listing). CayPlay confirmed the price would not rise at the 1.0 launch. What did Early Access players get?

The official soundtrack (permanently free) plus a special in-game gift.

Platforms & Compatibility

What platforms is it on?

PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No Switch or mobile versions announced.

Does it work on Steam Deck?

Officially rated "Playable" — it runs on SteamOS, though some actions need touchscreen or keyboard input and text can be small in places. Many players also force Proton Experimental (game properties → Compatibility → force Proton Experimental), which fixes the drag-and-drop/click issues.

What are the system requirements?

Per the official Steam store listing: minimum is Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Core i5-3550, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1050 / AMD Radeon RX 570, DirectX 11, 20 GB storage. Recommended: Intel Core i5-6400, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56.

Multiplayer

Is Waterpark Simulator multiplayer?

Yes, since 1.0: co-op for up to 4 players. Start a new park together or load existing parks, with optional proximity voice chat and walkie-talkies.

Can I play solo?

Yes — single-player is the original mode and works great. Co-op is optional.

Gameplay

What is the goal?

Turn a rundown waterpark into a five-star (then Diamond Star, in 1.0) business: build attractions, sell tickets, keep guests happy, research upgrades, and raise your star rating to charge higher entry fees.

What difficulty modes are there?

Sandbox, Easy, Normal, and Hard.

Does the park close?

Classic mode closes around 6 PM daily. 1.0 night mode lets you stay open after dark — employees are paid more, but cheaters glow with bracelets.

How do I get research points?

Collect floating science icons around your park, plus points from ticket sales and daily actions (cleaning, repairs). Spend them at the Research Table in your office.

What is the Museum?

A 1.0 building across the street, unlocked at 2.5 stars. Three NPCs (Poseidon't, Clara Loft, Goldie) offer questlines with theme currencies for the Museum research bench — each theme ends in a massive waterslide. See the Museum Questline Walkthrough.

Is there character customization?

Yes — mirror in the park for randomizing, and 1.0 adds full sliders (skin, hair, body, outfits) with multiple saved slots.

How long is the game?

There is no fixed campaign length — it's a sandbox management game. A full run to all Museum theme slides is a long-term project (tens of hours); a comfortable "I built a great park" run is roughly 15-25 hours. (Estimate based on community play; no official number.)

Technical

Where are my save files? C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\LocalLow\CayPlay\WaterparkSimulator\slots — replace XXXXX with your Windows username. The folder holds .es3 files with .bac backups. To restore a corrupted save, rename a backup (e.g. park.es3.bac1 → park.es3). No spaces in filenames; copy files elsewhere first. The game crashes on launch / when loading a park.

Known fixes: lower quality, enable v-sync, switch to borderless fullscreen, free up drive space (some players report problems when very little space is free), and run Steam file verification. Send crash logs to support if it persists.

I can't pick up trash bags in the tutorial.

Known Early Access-era bug in some patches — restart the day or check the pinned Steam bug thread for the current workaround.
