Waterpark Simulator Staff Management Guide

Your hands only go so far. Once your park holds more than ~15 guests, solo management stops working — the tickets pile up, the trash piles up, and the reviews turn sour. That is the moment to hire staff. This guide covers every staff type, how hiring works, and the optimal hiring order in Waterpark Simulator 1.0.

How Hiring Works

Staff are unlocked through the Research Table in your office, and hired through the tablet (Tab) → Hire menu:

  1. Research the Hiring Level upgrades (Maintenance tree) at the Research Table.
  2. Open the tablet and select Hire to see available candidates.
  3. Each candidate has a job role, daily wage, and efficiency stat — they are randomized per day. The candidate list changes daily, so if today's pool is weak, wait for tomorrow's.
  4. Hire them. Staff work automatically during open hours.

Key rules:

  • You start with a limited number of staff slots (around 4 at launch). Each Hiring Level upgrade adds slots (roughly +1 per level; exact numbers can vary by update).
  • You can hire one extra staff member beyond your slot allocation — but it costs extra in taxes.
  • Staff have stamina; when depleted, they stop working until the next day.
  • You can fire staff via the tablet's Manage option.

CashierResearch Table, Hiring Level 1Runs the ticket booth; sells the correct pass automaticallyFirst hire, always. Frees you from the entrance entirely.
JanitorResearch Table, Hiring Level 2Cleans trash and debris around the parkHire before vendor if cleanliness is your pain point. Janitors clean only during open hours.
VendorResearch Table, Hiring Level 2Works food stalls (hot dog, lemonade, popcorn)Add when stall queues get long.

Wages & Efficiency — Pick Stats, Not Names

Candidates are randomized with unique daily cost and efficiency stats, and the difference is huge. The exact wage numbers vary from day to day and patch to patch, so compare the stats shown in the hire menu rather than relying on remembered figures.

Rules of thumb:

  • Prioritize high efficiency over low price. A cheap but slow employee costs you more in lost revenue than the wage difference.
  • Do not fire staff over a single bad day — re-roll candidates tomorrow if the pool is bad today.
  • Stagger breaks. If all staff break at the same time, your park falls apart. Hire with offset schedules in mind; in co-op, players can cover gaps.

Optimal Hiring Order

PhaseHireWhy
------------------
Day 1-10 (early)Cashier as soon as Hiring Level 1 is researchedAutomates ticket sales — the single biggest time-saver in the game.
Day 10-20 (mid)Hiring Level 2 → Janitor first, then VendorJanitor stops the puddle/trash death spiral; vendor fixes food queues.
Day 20+ (late)More Hiring Levels → Handyman, extra vendors, then LifeguardRepairs stop eating your closing time; lifeguard reduces ambulance bills.
Endgame (1.0)Security, then MascotAutomates troublemaker ejection and gives a happiness floor to busy parks.

Early Access-era advice still holds: two good staff beats four mediocre ones, and quality of park over quantity of builds keeps wages affordable.

Staff Management Mistakes

  1. Hiring vendors before a janitor — a dirty park loses more money than hungry guests ever will.
  2. Ignoring the one-extra-staff tax — it is occasionally worth it, but it is a silent profit leak.
  3. Hiring everyone at the same wage tier — efficiency matters more than role fill.
  4. Never upgrading Hiring Level — stuck at 4 slots while your park grows past 15 guests is a classic mid-game collapse.
  5. No night coverage in night mode — 1.0 night mode pays employees more; make sure the extra hours actually cover the wage bill.
